Even a tiny weight matters

Published:

Morning at the gym. I’m lying on the bench, bar loaded, trainer behind me, pushing through one of the last sets. As my arms go up, I suddenly spot a small fly buzzing above the bar between my hands. Up and down, left and right. Probably the first insect I’ve ever seen inside this gym. The trainer notices it too.

At one point the little pest lands on the bar — right in the middle between my hands. Its weight is negligible, but I can’t help laughing at the whole situation and the weight I’m pushing up suddenly feels heavier, until the trainer has to step in and help.

That fly probably weighed less than 0.1 grams and it still took me down. 😅
